Caritas Zambia counsels parties in selection of candidates

Caritas Zambia in Chipata has advised political parties taking part in the council chairpersons elections to pick candidates that are preferred by the electorate.

Caritas Chipata good governance programmes coordinator, John Mhaziko Zulu, says it would be wrong for political parties, both the ruling and opposition parties to impose candidate on people in the five newly created districts.

“It will not be fair for party provincial and national committees to leave out candidates that will get more votes at district and constituency levels,” said Zulu

Zulu says Caritas Chipata felt democracy will not be fully practiced if views of the district and constituency committees will not be respected in the selection of candidates.
