Step into the ring, activist implores youths

Generational leadership takeover activist, Beck Banda, has urged young leaders to start talking about the evils of exploitation and recolonisation as they celebrate Africa Freedom Day tomorrow.
In an Africa Freedom Day message posted on his Facebook page on Thursday, Dr Banda encouraged young leaders to be proactive and not reactive.
‘My message for African Freedom Day to the young leaders and the youth of my Country, Zambia. Start thinking, start planning, start talking about the evils of exploitation, corruption, injustice, recolonisation, modern slavery, nepotism, and tribalism. Don’t depend on copy and paste ideologies,” Dr Banda stated. “Think anew and contribute to the body of knowledge. Participate in the politics and governance of your nation not as cadres and vuvuzelas, but as dignified young leaders.”
He further cautioned the youth against being consumers of foreign ideas.
“Read widely about the thinking and vision of great African leaders like Kwame Nkrumah. Let us be proactive and not reactive,” stated Dr Banda. “Let’s not specialise in online activism without demonstrating physically and practically. Stop being complainants. Take charge and be the game-changers. I wish you a thoughtful African Freedom Day.”
