CSPR commends ZCF for paying farmers

The Civil Society for Poverty Reduction (CSPR) in Eastern province has commended Zambia Cooperative Federation (ZCF) for paying farmers who supplied maize to the organization in Chadiza, Chipata and Katete districts.

In a press statement to newsdayzambia.com, CSPR provincial coordinator Maxson Nkhoma said farmers had raised concerns of non payment of their dues during a CSPR community interface meeting held in Kamlaza area of Senior Chief Nzamane.

“We are delighted and assured the concerned members of the public and farmers that ZCF has started paying the affected farmers. In the last one week ZCF has made payments to farmers in Chadiza and Chipata district for maize supplied during the 2015/2016 marketing season,” said Nkhoma.

He has since appealed to all affected farmers who supplied maize to ZCF to remain calm as their payments were being processed.

“CSPR will therefore not proceed with the planned court case against ZCF on behalf of farmers as the matter is being addressed by ZCF.” he said.
