Zambia asks SA for Uni-visa

Zambia has called on South Africa to consider implementing the Uni-visa for foreign tourists visiting the two countries.
Tourism Minister Charles Banda said the implementation of the Uni-visa between the two countries was in-line with the SADC and African Union vision of free movement of people.
Speaking during a bilateral meeting of the Tourism Indaba in Durban at the International Convention Centre, Banda said Africa’s revenue from tourism products was minimal at five per cent of the world’s revenue.
He said tourism was a big income earner to many economies, consisting of 10 per cent of the world’s Gross Domestic Product.
“The implementation of the Uni-visa would further boost tourists’ arrivals between the two countries. Zambia recently signed the Uni-visa agreement with Zimbabwe and has engaged other SADC countries to encourage the regional integrated approach to development,” said Banda.
