Chinsali contractor given 3 weeks ultimatum to complete a police post

MUCHINGA Province Minister Malozo Sichone has given a 3 -week ultimatum to the contractor engaged to construct the new Police headquarters in Chinsali district to complete the remaining works.

Speaking when he made an impromptu visit at the project site in the company of the Provincial Deputy Permanent Secretary Davy Chanda, Sichone said it is unacceptable that the project is still being delayed after government released the remaining funds for it’s completion.

Zambia News and Information Services reports that the provincial minister expressed his disappointment with the pace at which work was being done.

“Am directing that by the end of April to early May, police officers should be ready to occupy the ultra-modern facility and any further delay with the works will not be tolerated,” said Sichone

“President Lungu emphasized that he wants to commission the facility with police officers fully operating at the new building and has thereby, implored the contractor to complete the works in time,” he said

Sichone also expressed his dismay with a sub-contractor who has taken away some components of the air cons for the project.

And Provincial Building Engineer Andrew Njelesani explained that the remaining works will soon be completed.

Njelesani said the sub-contractor will be back on site as soon as the electrical fitting process is complete to finish up with the aircons and the rest of the works within the stipulated period.

And Muchinga Police Commissoner Chola Katanga who was also part of the entourage, said he would closely monitor the progress of the project to ensure that it was completed within the timeframe.
