A media consultant has protested over what she says are disparaging and disrespectful remarks attributed to the Czech Republic Ambassador to Zambia, Radek Rubeš at a press briefing organized by Zambia National Farmers Union.

In a statement to the media yesterday Brenda Bukowa said the comment suggesting that the media attended a breakfast briefing at Protea Hotel for food were demeaning to the journalism professional.

“Not only are these remarks an attack on the integrity of the journalism fraternity in Zambia but are an indirect insults to journalists who work under very difficult circumstances in Zambia to bring us news and information. To be honest, I doubt that journalists in Czech Republic can tolerate such remarks in the name of jokes from a Zambian diplomat accredited there, as it reduces Journalists to gluttons interested only in eating and not working.” Said Bukowa

She said Such disparaging remarks coated in a joke are ill timed, unacceptable and misplaced from a diplomat of his standing.

“I call upon the ambassador to apologise to the journalism fraternity in Zambia,” she said.
