Bishop Chinyemba demands principles

Mongu diocese Bishop Evans Chinyemba has dedicated the Holy Week to praying for communities in the area passing through different kinds of suffering and pain.

During Palm Sunday homily at Our Lady of Lourdes Catherald in Mongu, Bishop Chinyemba said prayers should be directed to families and individuals experiencing challenges so that their hope was not lost.

He encouraged the faithful that as they celebrated the Holy Week and Passion Sunday, their hearts should remember communities of Mongu which were carrying different crosses of suffering.

And Bishop Chinyemba  extended his prayer intention to the people in Congo, Syria and Sudan facing different tribulations.

He also earnestly asked the faithful to pray for the children who were abducted in Nigeria and christians tortured because of their faith.

Bishop Chinyemba implored christians to re-commit to Christ and follow Him as a suffering servant of God, adding that the Holy Week was an opportunity for people to renew the world through suffering service.

He observed that people committed themselves to God when things were okay, but when faced with sickness and death they tended to put aside their faith.

Bishop Chinyemba noted that the same mouth that shouted ‘hosanna, hosanna’, was the same mouth that was shouting ‘crucify him’!

“When people are compromised today they say one thing and tomorrow they turn out and say completely different things. We see this behaviour today in sections of our country, we see this behaviour in our communities, said Bishop Chinyemba.”

“’We stand for one thing today’, and tomorrow when the situation favours them they say and use a different language. This makes us question what such people stand for in their lives. What is the foundation of their principles? The foundation of their values.”/New Dawn Mongu
