Katete man arrested for murder

A 49 year old man of Kawaza village in Katete district has been arrested for murder.
Eastern Province police commissioner Luckson Sakala said Aaron Banda allegedly killed Sailota Tembo of the same village on suspicion that the latter was having an affair with his wife.
Commissioner Sakala said on February 25, Aaron Banda unlawfully wounded Sailota Tembo with a hoe in the head, after suspecting him of flirting with his wife.
“After that Tembo was rushed to St Francis Hospital where he was treated and later referred to the University Teaching Hospital for specialised treatment. However, Tembo died in the early hours of Wednesday this week,” narrated Sakala
“The suspect, who is still in police custody, was charged with unlawful wounding which was later changed to murder.”
Sakala said Tembo’s body had been transported from UTH to Katete and would be in the mortuary awaiting postmortem.
