Egypt joins fight against cholera

The Egyptian government has joined in the fight against cholera through a donation of medical supplies worth 200, 000 Egyptian Pounds (110,300 Zambian Kwacha).
According to a statement released by the Embassy in Lusaka today (Friday), the donation has been made through a state agency, the Egyptian Agency of Partnership for Development.
The consignment which arrived in the country this morning consists of cholera vaccines, medical supplies and cleaning materials.
The aid follows another consignment sent last week consisting 3000 dose of cholera vaccination as a preparation for the assistance.
“The assistance of the Egyptian government shows the spirit of the solidarity and cooperation between the two brotherly people bound by historical ties since their common struggle for independence,” said Egyptian Ambassador to Zambia, Ahmed Mostafa.
Ambassador Mostafa added that solidarity and collective efforts among African nations were of great importance in meeting challenges that every country faced.
He commended Zambians for containing the cholera outbreak that had ravaged Lusaka since October last year.
The medical supplies have since been handed over to the Zambian government.
