Only Schools Meeting Required Cleanliness Will be Re-opened in Eastern Province – Kasolo

Eastern Province Permanent Secretary Chanda Kasolo has said schools and colleges that have failed to meet the required cleanliness standards will not be allowed to reopen.

Giving an update on the cholera situation in the province on Friday, Kasolo said, “a team of officers that was going round schools to assess whether the institutions meet the standards required for them to operate has recommended that some must not be opened until certain issues like dirty toilets, flooded toilets, leaking sewer systems and dirty surroundings are addressed.”

Among the schools that have been advised not to open on tomorrow are MTM Private School, Chipata Basic School, St Mary’s Junior Seminary, Chassa Boarding Secondary School, Chizongwe Secondary School, St Margaret’s, Chipata Day, Chipata Skills, Eastern Girls, Madzimoyo, Kacholola, Mbande in Vubwi.

Kasolo disclosed that the schools and colleges will be re-visited on Tuesday to assess whether they can be given another date for opening.
