Provide permanent access to safe water for the people-ZCCB

Zambia Conference of Catholic Bishops (Z.C.C.B) Secretary General Fr Cleophas Lungu says access to safe drinking water, good sanitation and improving people’s living condition are key in cholera prevention.
Fr Lungu said government should have intervened especially in densely populated areas of Lusaka by providing clean water and not allow people to be digging shallow wells as their source of water.
He said although at the moment government had provided water tanks in different places, the best solution was to provide a permanent access of safe water for the people.
Fr Lungu further expressed worry at the level of sanitation in the Archdiocese of Lusaka especially in some compounds affected by cholera.
He said government should also find means on how best it could assist the people improve their living conditions.
Fr Lungu also reminded government to improve in its planning.
