Prophet Bushiri’s Zambian frustrated ‘daughter’ speaks out on fake miracles and illicit sex in SA ECG Church

A Zambian ‘spiritual daughter’ of South African-based Malawian Prophet Shepherd Bushiri says she left his renowned Enlightened Christian Gathering Church because she could no longer accept the faking of miracles and people within the House of God engaging in illicit sexual activities.

Disclosing the reason behind her exit from the Pretoria-based ECG Church of Prophet Bushiri, also known as Major 1, where she was asked to go and serve about three years ago, Prophetess Jeremiah said on a live Facebook video feed today that if God was to be worshipped the way He is worshipped in ECG, then she would rather be a Muslim or a Hindu.

Prophetess Jeremiah explained that her reaction via Facebook was because her name had been negatively dragged into the mud after she took the ‘bold’ step to ask to be released from Prophet Bushiri’s church.

“I have seen that many people out of fear, I understand that my former spiritual father is quite big and is well respected around the world. He’s got a big congregation, a big church and many sons and daughters they tremble and they fear to speak the truth or to come out to what they desire to do,” said Prophetess Jeremiah said as her video attracted a flurry of reactions from socialites. “I looked at what was happening and I had questions on several things, which is the truth, you understand. Things like faking miracles in the House of God, in the Body of Christ. Me, I did not accept that. If some people accept that, they know why they accept it. It is me. I am speaking on my part, not another person’s part. Number two, the issue of sleeping around with any person, any woman any man because people were vulnerable, that also was an issue and a thorn to my flesh and it would pain me because I would not allow myself to lift holy hands, worship God, close my eyes and pretend that it is good when I am seeing and I know exactly what is happening in the House of God. Those are my reasons.”

She said she took the bold step as a woman despite knowing that her life was at stake and therefore in danger.

“But I took this bold step as a woman because I knew that God wanted me to do something. So I told him, I sat down with Major 1 for almost two hours, to those of you who know his hotel in Rustenburg, that’s where I went. I sat down with Major 1, I spoke to him and I told him that truly I have reached my limit, enough has come to be enough on my part and I said please release me I want to go and serve God,” Prophetess Jeremiah said. “I had to come out because of things I could not agree with. I know that in every church there are mistakes and that’s a fact. There is no perfect church. In every church there are certain things that many would not agree but where sin is allowed, that is what I did not want. Honestly speaking and I am telling you without fear. I am telling you that where sin is accepted, I did not accept myself, I refused. I sat down, I prayed, I said if God is to be worshipped like this I would rather be Muslim or I would rather become Hindu.”

She said Prophet Bushiri told her that he had plans to send her to Ireland with her family after she informed him that she wanted to leave ECG and that when she insisted on leaving, he told her to go but that she should not serve under another man of God.

“I understand that I was there for a long time. There were so many things that was happening, people know, I know, Major 1 knows, Prophetess Mary Bushiri knows, I asked for a release to go and serve God,” Prophetess Jeremiah said. “Where we see sin and we cover it, where we see lies and we cover it, for how long are we going to do that as children of God? Many compromise, they say it is okay….The reason that led me in prayer is because I personally, I had certain questions and certain things that was [were] happening that I could not agree in the church. I am pointing out everything for everyone to hear this, because I have been put on media, I have no way out but to tell you because you are waiting for my answer.”

She said as soon as she joined ECG in Pretoria, she realised within a short period of time that there were certain things that were wrong but that out of ignorance and in an attempt to please her selfish desires, she stuck in until she got to a point where she could not hold it any longer and decided to sever ties.

“Starting from my former spiritual father, he knows the reason I left,” said a confident-looking Prophetess Jeremiah. “I left in peace and we had a chat.”
