Lusaka man strangles his wife

A 49 year old woman of Lusaka has been killed by his husband who is believed to be between the ages of 50 and 55 years old.
A Man identified as Rodgers Mbewe of Lusaka’s Garden House allegedly murdered his wife by hacking her using a wood curving tool.
Police have confirmed in a statement and identified the deceased as Patricia Phiri.
Police Spokesperson Esther mwata Katongo said the suspect is believed to have hacked his wife using a wood curving tool commonly known as imbaso.
She said the victim sustained a deep cut on the head, cuts on the throat, dislocated right shoulder and had her neck strangled.
“The incident occurred between Monday at 22:00hours and Tuesday at 06:00 hours at Maplot area in Kanayama area.” Katongo said
She said the body was discovered in the morning lying in a pool of blood by relatives of the deceased and was deposited in the mortuary awaiting postmortem while the suspect is on the run.
Katongo also said that a manhunt for the suspect has been launched.
She further appealed to members of the public with information on the whereabouts of the suspect to report to any nearest Police Station.
