Sinda Chiefs reject boundaries initiated by the local council

Three traditional rulers in Sinda district have rejected the map printed by the local council saying it does not reflect the chiefdoms boundaries as they were presented to government.
Speaking at Chonchi Guest House yesterday one of the trio, chieftainess Kawaza said the map was a false representation of the chiefdoms boundaries which they availed to government.
She said traditional leaders warned the council against making arbitrary decisions in the appropriation of land.
Chieftainess Kawaza sitting with chieftainess Nyanje and Chief Kathumba, however paid tribute to provincial permanent secretary Chanda Kasolo for showing leadership that was uniting in the province.
And Chief Kathumba said the traditional rulers and the council officials had failed to resolve the land disputes and hence asked Kasolo to intervene.
Chief Kathumba told Kasolo that the council had disregarded his advice regarding the boundaries of the chiefdoms.
But Council Chairperson Michael Phiri complained that despite few people being allocated land by the chiefs, their Indunas had continued to allocate plots within the township boundaries.
And speaking during the same meeting, Kasolo said the current map should be cancelled and come up with one that was representative and agreed by the affected traditional rulers.
