National Airline coming, Mushimba

CABINET has approved an establishment of a national airline, with partner carrier, Ethiopian Airways investing $US30 million in the first year, transport minister Brian Mushimba has announced.
Speaking during a cocktail party held at intercontinental hotel yesterday, Mushimba disclosed the decision of cabinet and that once commissioned, the national airline will be run in partnership with Ethiopian Airlines.
“Zambia’s government will be majority owner, operator of the airline. We want to make sure we go with a strategic partner, we share the risk, so we don’t burden the treasury, ” said Mushimba.
Mushimba also revealed that the first flight carrying the national flag is expected by october 2018 with domestic routes before expanding to international flights.
