Retired teacher to hang for murdering his wife

A Lukulu peasant farmer, Cyprian Chinepa was yesterday sentenced to death by hanging for murdering his wife, Nasilele Makokwa.

Sitting in Mongu yesterday, High Court Judge William Mweemba said he had considered the provisions of section 201 on extenuating circumstances and found non on this case.

Chinepa 61, a retired teacher of Lukulu district, Western Province did murder Makokwa, his wife of 18 years on  November 28, 2016 after a marital dispute using an assault rifle serial number 1469.

In delivering ruling, Mweemba said, “I accordingly direct that the convict be hanged by the neck until he is dead and pronounced so by certificates issued by a medical practioner. May the good lord have mercy on him and rest his soul in peace.”
