State enters nolle in witchcraft-related Mongu joint murder case

THE state has discontinued a court matter in which a Mongu machine operator and his unemployed colleague are alleged to have murdered another last year on suspicions that he was practising witchcraft.
This is in a matter that came up before Lusaka High Court judge William Mweemba, sitting in Mongu, in which 32-year-old Lubasi Wakung’uma and 24-year-old Kamuya Mukena, both of Winela Plots in Mongu are alleged to have jointly killed George Mukena Lubasi in contravention of the Laws of Zambia.
When the matter came up for hearing before judge Mweemba, the state notified him that they were entering a nolle prosequi in the murder case.
Judge Mweemba discharged Wakung’uma and Mukena on the basis of the nolle prosequi and the duo immediately left the courtroom looking calm and composed.
