2 die in Nyimba, Mambwe road accidents

TWO people have died in separate road traffic accidents in Nyimba and Mambwe districts.

In a statement, Eastern Province Police Deputy Commissioner Geoffrey Kunda said the accidents happened yesterday between 06:00 and 07:00 hours.

Kunda said due to excessive speed, the driver, a Mozambican national Abilio Mario Mondlain who was driving a truck carrying manganese failed to negotiate a curve and hit onto the oncoming Volvo tanker.

“Mondlain died at St Francis Hospital after sustaining a fractured right leg and internal abnormal bleeding while the other driver Alex Bwalya aged 40 of Ndola is admitted at Nyimba District Hospital,” said Kunda.

And Kunda said in separate incidence, Kaloko Banda, 40 of Chief Kakumbi’s area died on the spot after sustaining head injuries while the other five passengers are admitted at Kamoto Mission Hospital.

He explains that the accident happened when the driver Admson Banda aged 27, driving a land rover and had five passengers overtook improperly and hit into a vehicle which was in front making it lose control.
