The number of suspects apprehended for allegedly gassing of households in Lusaka and Copperbelt provinces has risen to thirteen.

In a statement Deputy Inspector General of Police in Charge of Operations Bonny Kapeso says two suspects have been arrested in Lusaka in connection with the criminal activities.

Kapeso said the two suspects were arrested in Chudleigh and at a Lodge near Cosmopolitan Mall in Lusaka over the weekend.

He explained that the suspect arrested in Chudleigh attempted to use a pepper spray on his victim while the other suspect was lodging at a named guest house.

“All the suspects have not yet been charged as Police are still investigating the cases further,” said Kapeso

Yesterday residents of Zingalume and chunga coumpounds protested over the gassing of houses and demanded for the release of the suspects so that they could receive instant mob justice by burning them alive.
