OPPOSTION Socialist Party in Western Province has sent condolences to the United Party for National Development (UPND) and the families of the two deceased members in a horrible road traffic accident. The accident is believed to have been caused by the unruly behavior of the warring political parties in the name of PF and UPND in Mongu.
In a media statement, Western Province Party spokeperson Preston Chinyama said the party was concerned with the continued loss of lives during by-elections instigated by the Patriotic Front.
“On Tuesday night at Mandanga market area of Kambule ward of Mongu Central Constituency, a fatal road accident was caused by a chase and run of the political lunatics leaving two old women dead, five injured which included Mulambwa UPND Ward Councilor Mboo Muyunda,” said Chinyama.
He said this was after one of the campaign strategists for the UPND was kidnapped during the day in the course of duty at Mawawa polling station.
“Western Province politics is finally being identified with violence when in fact it is a peaceful region for humble toiling masses. The economic suffering that we endure as a people, the hunger and starvation among the households in the region are causing enough mayhem and we can’t continue to lose life unnecessarily all in the name of politics,” he said.
Chinyama added that the loss of lives in Sesheke, Kaoma and now in Mongu cannot go uncondemned as it was painful to only the family members but the entire country.
