Patriotic Front on the Copperbelt has lifted the suspension against Kalulushi Mayor Rashida Mulenga.
The suspension was lifted during a meeting held in Kalulushi chaired by Patriotic Front PF Copperbelt Chairperson Nathan Chanda.
In a statement to newsdayzambia.com Chanda said lifting of the suspension does not mean indiscipline is condoned.
Last week, Patriotic Front Kalulushi district disciplinary chairman David Kapeso served Mulenga with a letter of suspension on allegations that she mismanaged K122, 000 donated by President Edgar Lungu.
However, speaking when he addressed the officials,Chanda said growing the party was top on the agenda and that it should be every member’s preoccupation.
“We have visited you as the provincial executive to come and find out how you are working here. We need to stand on the truth as a party. You, the party officials need to work with everyone. There is nothing like this one is this or that. You need to work with the MP and the Mayor. The MP and Mayor need to coexist. Divisions should come to an end here in Kalulushi,” said Chanda.
He said the perceived differences amongst party members in Kalulushi should come to an end adding that no individual was bigger than the party.
Chanda said the Monday meeting should be the last one he was chairing with regard to the differences among members in the party, particularly in Kalulushi.
“In the interest of the party, we have lifted all the suspensions here in Kalulushi. But, let me state that, lifting of suspensions does not mean that we condone any level of indiscipline in the party. We are one big family that belongs to the Zambian people under the leadership of President Dr Edgar Chagwa Lungu.” he warned.
Speaking earlier, Kalulushi district Vice Chairperson Cornelius Mwansa thanked Chanda for finding time to visit the district.
The Party officials in Kalulushi apologised to the provincial executive for the confusion and misunderstandings that engulfed the district leadership.
