General worker at health centre in Sikongo arrested for the death of girlfriend

Police in Kalabo district have arrested a general worker at Lueti Rural Health Centre of Sikongo district in connection with the death of his girlfriend.
Kalabo Police Officer-in-Charge Daniel Mutondo confirmed the arrest of John Songiso Kanunga, 51, of Tutondo village of Chief Malala’s area in Sikongo.
Mutondo told ZANIS in an interview that the suspect was being held in custody in order to help police with investigations into the death Fenny Namangolwa Wamunyima, 31 of Lueti area.
He said the deceased died around 02:00hours on 30th July 2019 at her boyfriend’s residence in Lueti after an alleged fight.
He disclosed that she was Brought In Dead (BID) to Kalabo police station where officers issued a form for her body to be deposited into Kalabo District Hospital mortuary.
Mutondo said the deceased’s relatives later inspected the body in the mortuary and suspected foul play before reporting the suspect to the police for intervention.
