OPPOSITION Socialist Party will not allow any manipulation of the Zambian constitution, party member Wezzy Muswema has warned.
Speaking to newsdayzambia.com during the Yellow card campaign at parliament buildings today, Muswema of Mandevu constituency said his party was aware that the PF government was trying to manipulate the constitution to disadvantage other political players.
“The Socialist Party today is very happy that we have participated in this yellow card programme, we have realized that this government is trying to manipulate this constitution, and today we are saying no,” said Muswema.
He said the country required a revolution to fix the many challenges it was facing.
Muswema said Zambia needed a complete ideological shift to the left where the peasants and working class emancipated themselves through ownership of the means of production.
And another member from Kanyama Annette Tembo said the party was equally concerned about political violence, which had caused so much disunity, insecurity and poverty in the country.
“No justice, no equity, and peace can prevail in a country were violence against innocent citizens is the order of the day,” said Tembo
Meanwhile, Agness Njobvu also a socialist party member demanded that the PF government lays its hands off the Financial Intelligence Centre.
Njobvu said the government should act decisively on the FIC report and bring the culprits to book.
“We are concerned that those who are mandated to punish wrongdoings are the ones abetting it and submitting to the strong in defence of criminality,” said Njobvu.
