Livingstone City Council is replacing High Pressure Sodium bulbs with the Light Emitting Diode (LED) bulbs on street lights in some selected roads in the tourist capital.

In a statement Council Public Relations Manager Melvin Mukela said the local authority had procured 371 LED bulbs at a cost of K596, 000 in a bid to reduce the consumption of power.

“the replacement of High Pressure Sodium bulbs on part of Musiotunya and Airport roads, Nakatindi and the Central Business District area will also benefit from the project,” said Mukela

He said this would contribute to making the roads safer, especially in the night.

Mukela said the replacement of the bulbs would be complete in six weeks.
