CSAWUZ calls for engagement over health insurance scheme

The Civil Servants and Allies Workers Union of Zambia (CSAWUZ) has called on government to engage workers on the implementation of the National Health Insurance Scheme.
Union president Davy Chiyobe said members were not happy that government had gone ahead to implement the package without explaining how it is going to benefit them.
“Members are wondering about the budget for the scheme and modalities under which people are going to access the medical services, especially those from far flung areas,” he said.
Chiyobe noted that if money was being deducted, there must be a fund manager to track the funds.
He explained that their members want to be informed on how the whole scheme would be managed.
Government recently announced that it would contribute two percent of the fund requirements for each civil servant towards the implementation of the Insurance Scheme.
