Suspected murderer of Chinese couple in court

A 26 year old man alleged to have hacked to death a Chinese couple in Mumbwa has appeared in the Mumbwa magistrate court for plea.
Kenny Figo of Lubemba village in Chief Mumba’s area is facing two counts of murder and one count of aggravated robbery.
Appearing before Mumbwa Resident Magistrate Chizawu Chizyuka, Figo in the first count is charged with murder contrary to the Laws of Zambia.
Particulars of the offence are that Figo on June 18 did murder Jinyong Yon a Chinese national.
In the second count, the accused is also facing murder contrary to the Laws of Zambia.
Particulars of the offence are that Figo on June 18 did murder Zhuming Hu another Chinese national.
In the third count, the suspected murderer is charged with aggravated robbery.
The particulars of the offence in the third count are that the accused on June 18 between 19:00 hours and 20:00 hours at Sun Share Complex in Mumbwa being armed with an axe did steal K30,000 and used actual violence to Jintong Yan and Hu Zhuming to obtain the money.
Magistrate Chizawu said she had no jurisdiction to hear the matter and the accused will continue appearing for mention until she received instructions from the Director of Public Prosecutions for accused to be committed to the High court.
Public Prosecutor Medson Mtonga applied for adjournment for the accused to appear for mention on July 24.
The accused is remanded in custody.
