Mafinga man 83, commits suicide after failing to reverse charm placed on his nephew.

An 83 year-old man, Frank Simwanza of Lupita village in Chief Mwenechifungwe in Mafinga District has killed himself after allegedly failing to reverse a charm he placed on his 30-year-old nephew.
Simwaka was reported to have gone missing on June 27, 2019, leading to a search conducted by relatives and some community members.
On July 3, 2019 the matter was reported to the police and the body was later found 50 meters away from Simwaka’s house hanging on a tree.
Muchinga Province Police Commissioner Engineer Joel Njase who confirmed the development to newsdayZambia.com, revealed that when police visited the scene, the body was in a decomposed state.
“Among other things that were discovered, was a death note which was stuck to the very tree with a confession that he had bewitched his nephew Kelvin Simwaka who was chronically ill suffering from a swollen stomach and the legs,” said Njase.
“The death note further indicated that, he decided to take his own life for bewitching his Nephew hence decided to sacrifice his own life.
The death note has been kept at the police as an exhibit for handwriting samples and an inquiry file has been opened. And relatives to the late have been advised to burry and mark the grave,” said Njase.
