Speaking during the cremation ceremony today at the Lusaka Hindu Association crematorium, Dr M’membe said anybody who learnt economics in Zambia, especially at the University of Zambia were taught by Prof. Seshamani.
“Professor Seshamani taught me in econometrics. For me it was a very difficult course when I was doing my masters programme. He simply made it easy for me, I followed and passed,” said Dr M’membe.
He said that professor Seshamani was extremely helpful, full of simplicity, humility and a complete intellectual who believed in sharing his knowledge.
Dr M’membe said Professor Seshamani’s knowledge reached many people in the country and the world at large.
“Professor Seshamani’s contribution on issues of research, issues of poverty, issues of justice stood out – you can see that in his former students,” he said
“Professor Seshamani was loyal to his students, he kept track of his former students. Even for me when we started the Socialist Party project, Professor Seshamani was always trying to find out what we were doing and sending me this and that paper,” said Dr M’membe
Dr M’membe added that the professor had so much data about anything on issues of poverty and was always feeding him with all the literature that he needed.
Bank of Zambia governor Denny Kalyalya, opposition leader, Situmbeko Musokotwane were among those who attended the cremation ceremony.
