Expired goods in Kaoma seized

Expired goods from various shops in Kaoma district have been seized by the local authorities.

In a statement, Kaoma council public relations officer, Mike Daka disclosed that a team of health inspectors in conjunction with Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC) yesterday conducted   an inspection on compliance in relation to food and drug Act Cap 303 and Public Health Act Cap 295.

Daka explained that expired goods worthy K10,500 were found in various shops.

“The seized goods include, crates of drinks, biscuits, body lotions, assorted food stuffs, margarine, washing powder, baking powder,” he said.

Daka has urged the general public to check expiry dates of goods, especially food stuffs as they maybe harmful to their health.

“We want to urge traders to desist from selling expired goods as they risk being prosecuted,” he said.

Daka said that all the seized goods will be disposed-off once the court gives the order to do so.
