Opposition Socialist Party General Secretary Dr Cosmas Musumali has assured the party’s inaugural rally messages on Saturday shall trigger the need for Zambians to transform the country.
Speaking ahead of the public rally at Nsansa grounds in Chimwemwe, Kitwe scheduled for Saturday, Dr Musumali assured that the rally to be addressed by the party’s 2021 presidential candidate would not only set the revolutionary agenda but celebratory and fun.
“We are prepared for this rally, we have made all necessary precautions, we have undertaken several tasks that will make it interesting for those that are going to attend and of course the rally is also celebratory so, those coming to this rally are going to have their fun and it’s going to be a joyous occasion but an occasion where they are going to get the message of hope for Zambia,” he said.
“The key messages are that the Socialist Party is finally there, that Fred M’membe and his team are the ones to redeem this country and also the pillars for the socialist transformation of Zambia so, these are the three issues, the three key messages that the people will take away from this wonderful rally”.
Dr Musumali said there was also of excitement among the people on the Copperbelt that Dr M’membe, the incoming president of this country was holding his first rally on the province.
“There is a lot of excitement from the people in Twatasha, Kawama and the whole of Kitwe. Residents are looking forward to this particular rally,” he said.
On people questioning about the lack of the party’s visibility since its launch in March last year, Dr Musumali explained that the party had been organizing its structures but was now ready to engage in mass mobilization.
He said the Kitwe rally was one of those occasions kick-starting the mass front, which would help build faith in the Zambian people with the ability to transform the country on socialist lines.
“Why did we choose Kitwe? Kitwe is very significant in the history of this country, Kitwe has been the home of organised labour, Kitwe is where the Zambians working masses in 1935 stood up and demanded for fairness for justice for equity and those of you that know history, you know that a lot of them sacrificed their lives,” Dr Musumali said.
“So, Kitwe is historical, Kitwe is an important town just as the rest of Copperbelt is sacrificing so, we are starting with Kitwe in terms of our rallies”.
He said the organisers were ready for the momentous occasion.
“…… will make it interesting for those that are going to attend and of course the rally is also celebratory so, those coming to this rally are going to have their fun and it’s going to be a joyous occasion but an occasion where they are going to get the message of hope for Zambia,” Dr Musumali said.
He expressed confidence that Dr M’membe and his team would redeem the country from its current situation.
“I would urge all of you in Kitwe please, come and attend and if you will not be able to attend turn in to your favorite radio stations or turn to one of the TV stations, Dr Fred M’membe’s face is going to be there and please pay a lot of attention to the message, Zambia won’t be the same after this,” he said.
