Kalabo chieftainess calls for SOS to avert hunger situation

Chieftainess Mbwajikana of Kalabo and Sikongo districts has urged government to step up distribution of relief food as hunger has severely affected her people following the recent drought.
She said this to Sikongo District Commissioner when he delivered over 20x50kg bags of maize to the Chieftainess to cushion the looming hunger situation at the palace.
Chieftainess bwajikana also asked government to assist repair her utility vehicle or provide an alternative one.
Chieftainess Mbwajikana said that lack of readily available transport was hindering her from visiting her people to understand the extent of the drought and other issues affecting them.
Meanwhile, Sikongo DC Bright Tombi promised to continue supporting traditional leadership and people in the area.
Tombi said it was encouraging to note that Chieftainess Mbanjikana was willing to cooperate with government to ensure unity among leaders.
