SOCIALIST Party General Secretary Dr. Cosmas Musumali says the late senior chief Bright Nalubamba of the Ila speaking people of Namwala dedicated his life not only to his family but to the development of the country.

Speaking at the burial of the late senior Chief Nalubamba in Mbeza chiefdom yesterday, Dr Musumali said Senior Chief Nalubamba’s commitment was towards good governance and the fight against corruption.

“We are burying a patriot of Zambia, a leader who dedicated his life not only to the people of Mbeza but his commitment to the whole Zambia,” he said

“He is somebody in the 70’s, who  worked and fought hard to ensure that this country had viable cooperative structures, and those cooperative structures were meant  to eradicate poverty in our  country. We owe him a lot from that perspective”.

He said in the 80’s and 90’s Senior Chief Nalubamba did a lot to ensure that the fight against HIIV/AIDS was carried out  in the traditional leadership structures.

“Later on over the past 20 years or so, he has been a critical and very informative voice towards good governance. He is someone who has paved a way for many others that today are crying  and quite unhappy that he has gone.

The man who had  generated  good governance and the fight against corruption,” said Dr Musumali.

He said while it was fashionable for traditional leaders to sell-out and betray their people, senior Chief Nalubamba remained magnanimous.

“Bright Nalubamba never did that, he was a true example of traditional leadership, he never sold his people, he never betrayed his people and that was the legacy he has left behind and for those of us who have known him for a long time we say thank you very much to this great patriot of Zambia, ” said Dr. Musumali.
