CARITAS Chipata has urged newly appointed District Commissioners in Eastern Province to uphold work ethics of the civil service.

Caritas Good Governance coordinator John Mthaziko Zulu reminded the newly appointed district commissioners to raise above partisan politics.

“District Commissioners should not be political party cadres because they serve everyone in the districts. There was need for the Eastern Province permanent secretary to orient all the newly appointed DCs so that they execute their duties diligently,” he said.

“It is clear that some of these district commissioners who have been appointed here in Eastern Province are pure cadres”.

Zulu told the DCs the Constitution did not allow them to play partisan politics.

On Monday this week President Edgar Lungu appointed five district commissioners  in the newly created district of  Eastern Province namely;  Emmanuel Mulenga – Lumezi District , Mustafa Banda – Chasefu, Sarah Kalaluka Mbewe – Kasenengwa, Godwin Phiri – Lusangazi, and  Peter Msimuko – Chipangali.
