There is no political will by Govt to fight corruption – Kambwili

By Staff Reporter

OPPOSITION National Democratic Party (NDC) president Chishimba Kambwili says there is no political will by the Patriotic Front (PF) government to fight corruption.

Speaking during the Prime TV Oxygen of Democracy programme monitored by newsdayZambia.com on Monday evening, Kambwili expressed his disappointment that President Edgar Lungu had failed to take action against those involved in fraud and corruption.

“It is not me accusing them of corruption, it was the information (as reported in Financial Intelligence Centre) that was given to us and the corruption that we are seeing that would be worked on when NDC forms government. You see, the beauty about being open about issues , the beauty about telling the truth, that is why we receive a lot of  information about what is happening in government  from civil servants, because they know that once I see it,  I will communicate to the relevant authorities ,” said Kambwili.

“ I feel very happy that I was kicked out of this government because I could have been part of  corruption, I could have been part of the failure under the PF government. I saved in government under the late President Michael Sata who was very serious about fighting corruption and I have no regret of   not working with the corrupt PF government under President Lungu”.
