Lusaka resident sues govt for K7,500 compension

A LUSAKA resident has sued the State in the High Court claiming over K7,000 in damages for his motor vehicle that was involved in an accident with a government vehicle.
In a statement of claim filed in the Lusaka High Court principal registry, Michael Kalepa has cited the Attorney General and is demanding K7,500 as compensation.
He stated that his vehicle was involved in a road accident on March 18, this year on the Kaunda Square road in Chudleigh area around the Munali round about.
Kalepa stated that his vehicle, a Nissan Serena registration number ALM 8505, was hit into
by a Ford Ranger registration number GRZ 538 CH which was being driven by Mukaka
Musonda, an employee of Zambia National Information Services .
He stated that the cause of the accident was reported to be pure negligence in which Musonda failed to read a speed hump road sign and continued over speeding beyond the limit.
The plaintiff stated that the case was later reported at Bennie Mwiinga Police at which Musonda admitted the offence and paid the admission of guilt fee.
Kalepa is demanding compensation from the government for the loss he has
suffered as his vehicle was used in the transport business.
