{"id":8943,"date":"2019-03-11T14:40:29","date_gmt":"2019-03-11T14:40:29","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/newsdayzambia.com\/?p=8943"},"modified":"2019-03-11T14:45:05","modified_gmt":"2019-03-11T14:45:05","slug":"nha-finance-director-pleads-not-guilty","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/newsdayzambia.com\/?p=8943","title":{"rendered":"NHA finance director pleads not guilty"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>By Staff Reporter<\/p>\n<p>NATIONAL Housing Authority finance director Charles Chewe yesterday appeared in the Lusaka Magistrates&#8217; Court and pleaded not guilty to a charge of failing to follow applicable laid down procedure when he awarded a contract to a debt collector.<\/p>\n<p>Allegations are that Chewe, 54,\u00a0between January 1, 2012 and December 31, 2012 in Lusaka, being a person employed in the Public Service by the NHA as director of finance awarded a contract to Blackson Zulu a debt collector without following applicable laid down procurement procedures or guidelines, a transaction which concerns the National Housing Authority, a public body.<\/p>\n<p>Appearing for plea, the prosecution informed magistrate Kaoma that they had consent from the Director of Public Prosecution to prosecute the matter and called the matter.<\/p>\n<p>Chewe however, pleaded not guilty and magistrate Kaoma adjourned the case to April 10 for trial.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Staff Reporter NATIONAL Housing Authority finance director Charles Chewe yesterday appeared in the Lusaka Magistrates&#8217; Court and pleaded not guilty to a charge of failing to follow applicable laid down procedure when he awarded a contract to a debt collector.
