OPPOSITION United Party for National Development Kanyama ward 11, 2021 aspiring candidate has expressed disappointment at the continued accumulation of debts by government.<\/p>\n
Beene Hachombwa told NewsdayZambia.com in an interview that borrowing without clear agenda of development had effects on the country\u2019s economy.<\/p>\n
\u201cState institutions will be taken away because of debt, if we over borrow this means we are risking the economy of this country,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Hachombwa explained that the gross domestic product for the country was down due to over-borrowing.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe don\u2019t know where the is going, this government has reached an extent of borrowing even to construct a toll gate,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
He lamented that many Zambians were still wallowing in poverty.<\/p>\n
\u201cLook at the people of Chibolya, Kanyama and Bauleni, they do not have good roads and the sanitation in these compounds is poor,\u201d Hachombwa lamented.<\/p>\n
He pointed out that foreigners are everywhere in the country and taking up businesses, which should have been a preserve for Zambians.<\/p>\n
\u201cGo to Chongwe and City Market, you would find that these foreigners are selling maize and salaula (second hand clothes),\u201d Hachombwa said.<\/p>\n
Hachombwa added that the debt situation needed urgent solutions as the blunt of the effects were carried by the ordinary people.<\/p>\n
