{"id":8082,"date":"2019-01-28T20:31:34","date_gmt":"2019-01-28T20:31:34","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/newsdayzambia.com\/?p=8082"},"modified":"2019-01-28T20:32:10","modified_gmt":"2019-01-28T20:32:10","slug":"fuel-demand-escalates-in-lstone-erb","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/newsdayzambia.com\/?p=8082","title":{"rendered":"Fuel demand escalates in L\/stone &#8211; ERB"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>By Staff Reporter<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>ENERGY Regulation Board (ERB) has attributed the increase in illegal fuel vending in Livingstone to the higher demand of the commodity in the area compared to other border towns in the region.<\/p>\n<p>ERB Consumer and Public Affairs Director Fred Hang\u2019andu said Livingstone\u2019s proximity to other towns bordering Botswana and Namibia had contributed to higher demand for fuel and consequently, increased cases of illegal fuel vending.<\/p>\n<p>Hang\u2019andu also noted that the pursuit of profit was another reason the vice had persisted as illegal fuel vendors mixed both diesel and petrol with Kerosene to increase the volume of their sales.<\/p>\n<p>In response to a press query from ZANIS in Livingstone, Hang\u2019andu stressed the need to curb the illegal vice as it impacted negatively on licensed facilities.<\/p>\n<p>Hang\u2019andu however, said\u00a0ERB\u00a0had put measures in place to curb illegal fuel vending, which included formation of a joint enforcement team constituting government security wings.<\/p>\n<p>He further said surveillance activities on selected facilities and dwelling places across Livingstone and beyond would be followed by raids at an appropriate time.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Staff Reporter &nbsp; ENERGY Regulation Board (ERB) has attributed the increase in illegal fuel vending in Livingstone to the higher demand of the commodity in the area compared to other border towns in the region.
