MONZE Town Council has approved an over K23 million 2019 budget for Monze district in accordance with the provision of the local government Act Cap 281 of the Laws of Zambia.<\/p>\n
According to a press statement issued by Monze District Council public relations officer Nelson Kazeze, the council\u2019s revenue and expenditure estimates for next year would be valued at a total sum of K23, 135, 573.03.<\/p>\n
Kazeze stated that the budget was approved during a special full council meeting held at the Monze town council chambers on Thursday.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe local authority expects to K4, 200,000 from Constituency Development Fund (CDF) for the three constituencies in the district where as K9, 540,000 will be sought from the Local Government Equalisation Fund,\u201d Kazeze stated.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe council further expects to generate local revenue worth K9, 395, 573.03. The 2019 estimates of revenue are representing a budget increase of K2, 934, 205.03 or 14.5% from the 2018 budget.\u201d<\/p>\n
And Kazeze disclosed that the basis of the budget forecasting was the Monze town council\u2019s strategic development plan that was \u201calmost concluded and awaiting validation.\u201d<\/p>\n
He added that provisions of the budget had been made as guided in the Seventh National Development Plan (7NDP) whose core focus was \u201cleaving no one behind in the integrated multi-sectoral development approach of accelerating development efforts toward vision 2030.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cThe budget has been prepared using participatory budgeting with all stakeholders, in line with the revised national decentralisation policy,\u201d stated Kazeze.<\/p>\n
