CHIEF Justice Ireen Mambilima is fine against online media reports that she was involved in a fatal road traffic accident \u00a0as she was travelling from Lusaka to Kabwe for Supreme Courts sessions on Monday morning.<\/p>\n
Police Spokesperson Esther Katongo confirmed this in a statement yesterday saying\u00a0 Justice Mambilima was not involved in the unfortunate incident but her escort vehicle where the driver, a passenger sustained injuries while a cyclist died.<\/p>\n
Katongo stated that the accident happened when the driver of the Toyota Land Cruiser registration number BAC 3189 which was also part of Justice Mambilima\u2019s mini convoy misjudged clearance distance and hit into a Toyota Ragius which was going in the same direction before hitting into a cyclist.<\/p>\n
She identified the driver of the Toyota Land Cruiser as Mbita Richard aged 31 years of Chelston in Lusaka while the driver of the Toyota Ragius registration has been identified as Gerald Moonga aged 48 year of Monze Site and Service.<\/p>\n
Others involved were a female police officer identified as Majory Mufaya who was a passenger on the Land cruiser and a cyclist identified as Esther Sakala aged 19 year of village Shakumbila in Chief Chipepo who died yesterday at Kabwe General Hospital.<\/p>\n
Judiciary Public Relations officer Kalumba Chisambisha, said although the driver and a passenger in the escort vehicle sustained minor injuries they were by yesterday still receiving medical attention at Kabwe General Hospital.<\/p>\n
