A senior government official in Sinda district of the Eastern Province says the six-month ultimatum that chief Kathumba of the Chewa-speaking people issued against the subjects of chieftainess Nyanje of the Nsengas to vacate the chiefdom should not be complicated further for peace\u2019s sake.<\/p>\n
District commissioner Paradious Sakala told journalists in Sinda that the two traditional rulers were enjoying a peaceful relationship and dismissed reports that they were sworn enemies following the reported vacation order against the Nsengas by the Chewa traditional leader.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe chiefs are not enemies but that their subjects are the ones creating tension and differences between the two chiefs,\u201d Sakala said. \u201cAs government we have taken up the matter and it\u2019s an inside matter which we will resolve amicably very soon, and we assure the people between the two chiefdoms to remain calm as soon the wrangles will come to an end.\u201d<\/p>\n
He called on subjects in the two chiefdoms to desist from giving out wrong information relating to the said chiefdom wrangles.<\/p>\n
And Sakala said the matter in which ruling PF Kasangazi ward councillor Jonathan Phiri is alleged to have stolen materials meant for the construction of teachers\u2019 houses at Mkwinda Primary School was being handled by the local council.<\/p>\n
He expressed disappointment that people instructed to implement the government\u2019s development agenda were the ones in the forefront frustrating it.<\/p>\n
\u201cI am waiting for the Council to see which action they will take in disciplining the civic leader as this matter is in the hands of the Council,\u201d said Sakala.<\/p>\n
