A ZAMBIA Air Force procurement officer who denied knowing any properties allegedly belonging to former ZAF commander Lieutenant General Eric<\/div>\n
Chimese has pleaded not guilty to perjury.<\/div>\n
Lieutenant colonel Dexter Maseka, 43, took his plea before Lusaka magistrate Alice Walusiku yesterday morning.<\/div>\n
Maseka was slapped with perjury after he allegedly lied during trial in a case in which Chimese is jointly charged with his wife Sharon Gray and Chita Lodge director James Chungu for abuse of authority<\/div>\n
of office and money laundering over properties in Ibex Hill and Lilayi.<\/div>\n
When Maseka was interrogated by Drug Enforcement Commission investigators, he gave a detailed statement about what he knew about the properties allegedly belonging to Gen Chimese.<\/div>\n
But when he testified in court, he denied knowing the said properties when previous prosecution witnesses such as ZAF squadron pilot Cephas Mudaala said he handed over the role of supervising the construction project to Maseka when he left the country for training in South Africa.<\/div>\n
It is alleged that Maseka of house number F608158 Chamba Valley\u00a0 on July 9, 2019 gave false information to Lusaka magistrate Nsunge Chanda that he knew nothing about<\/div>\n
Chimese’s alleged properties situated in ibex hill on Twin Palm road.<\/div>\n
The testimony he gave in court was different from that of his witness statement which he gave\u00a0<\/span>to DEC officers, an act which amounts to perjury.<\/div>\n

After recording a plea of not guilty, magistrate Walusiku set October 1 for commencement of trial and extended Maseka’s police bond.<\/div>\n
