A 33-year-old man has pleaded not guilty before the Monze Magistrate Court for unlawful possession of a live Pangolin contrary to section 130(1) and 98 of the Zambia Wildlife Act number 14 of 2015.<\/p>\n
ZANIS<\/em> reports that appearing before Magistrate Leah Kabalata was Waiter Mwiinga, a fisherman from Hanyimbo village in Chief Munyumbwe’s Chiefdom in Gweembe District.<\/p>\n Facts before the court were that on May 22, 2019 in Monze District, Mwiinga jointly and whilst acting with persons unknown, had in their possession a protected animal, namely one live Pangolin without a certificate of ownership issued by the Director General of the National Parks.<\/p>\n Magistrate Kabalata adjourned the matter to June 5, 2019 for trial.<\/p>\n In another case, a 38-year-old man has pleaded not guilty for allegedly stealing K35, 000 and assaulting a police officer in two separate counts.<\/p>\n Appearing before Magistrate Leah Kabalata was Ackson Kufa, a transporter from Sibusu village in Chief Monze\u2019s area in Monze.<\/p>\n In the first count, Kufa is accused of stealing K35, 000 contrary to section 272 of the Penal Code chapter 87 of the Laws of Zambia.<\/p>\n Facts before the court were that between April and June 2018, Kufa did steal K35, 000 the property of Precious Siamwanza.<\/p>\n In the second count, Kufa is accused of assaulting a police officer contrary to section 250(b) of the Penal Code chapter 87 of the laws of Zambia.<\/p>\n Facts before the court were that on November 30, 2018, in Monze, Kufa assaulted a police officer, Constable Keith Mumbi, occasioning actual bodily harm.<\/p>\n Magistrate Kabalata also adjourned the matter to May 31, 2019 for trial.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" By Staff Reporter A 33-year-old man has pleaded not guilty before the Monze Magistrate Court for unlawful possession of a live Pangolin contrary to section 130(1) and 98 of the Zambia Wildlife Act number 14 of 2015.
