Zambeef opens retail outlet in Mongu

Farmers in Western Province have been called upon to diversify into poultry farming and partner with Zambeef Products PLC.

Western Province Deputy Permanent Secretary (DPS) Danny Bukali said that in order to add value to the supply chain of Zambeef’s stock feed and day-old chicks’ retail outlet, there was need for local farmers to venture into chicken rearing to improve their livelihood.

The DPS was speaking when he officially opened Zambeef Mongu Macro Retail Outlet, where he also commended Zambeef for being committed to growing the country’s agriculture sector and creating employment through its farming, processing, distribution and retailing operations.

Bukali said that Zambeef was also promoting commerce which has contributed significantly to the national treasury through payment of taxes.

And Zambeef Products PLC Chief Executive Officer Francis Grogan said the Mongu Macro Retail Outlet will serve as a point of interaction between the Zambeef brand and the customers.

Grogan pointed out that Western Province is a very important as it had the biggest source of traditional cattle where the company gets its major products from.

Meanwhile, the Barotse Royal Establishment (BRE) has commended Zambeef for the development added to the province.

BRE Ngambela Manyando Mukela has appealed to the company to consider putting up a good price for cattle buying from local farmers so that they also benefit.

Mukela also encouraged farmers to work closely with Zambeef in order to support and sustain the facility.
