Opposition Socialist Party of Zambia on Saturday gathered in Lusaka to express solidarity with the people of Venezuela following an aggressive economic and political attack against the Nicolas Maduro led Bolivarian revolution by the Donald Trump led administration.

Speaking on behalf of the party during the global mobilization meeting Preston Chinyama said the party had resolved to continue standing by the people of Venezuela.

Chinyama said the party join all the people’s movements and organisations globally who were picketing in front of US embassies and consulates or symbols of US capital on the day following a clarion call by the international people’s assembly.

“Aware of the real intentions of the united states of America in oil rich Venezuela the Socialist Party Zambia militants are morally and practically committed to this international solidarity with the Bolivarian to the highest levels possible,” said Chinyama.

He said the party militants speak out against President Trump attempt to destroy Venezuela like his predecessors did in Iraq, Libya and the Democratic Republic of Congo using the pretext of instilling democracy when the real intention was to privatize the natural resources of those countries.

Chinyama added that it was the oil reserve in Venezuela which was causing trump and his Washington cabal to try and impose a puppet leadership in that country.

“That parliamentary coup has been overwhelmingly defeated by the entire world increased solidarity with Venezuela and no amount of threats from the crisis-laden USA will hush the progressive forces ‘Hands off Venezuela’ chorus, because it is not a matter of patronage but a revolutionary duty. We know for a fact that if Donald Trump and his international criminal conspirators are allowed their ways in Venezuela and indeed any part of the world where they are extending their interventionist policies, the poor and working class will suffer the consequences.” he said

He said the fight against Venezuela is a fight against humanity and would not fail.
