Angry mob in Nkanchibiya kill two people

Two People have been brutally murdered by an angry mob at Mpepo’s Market Square in Nkanchibiya district of Muchinga Province on suspicion that the dual poisoned their friend during a dinking spree over the weekend.
Muchinga Province Police Commissioner Joe Njase has confirmed the incidence to the Zambia News & Information Services today.
According to the Police Commissioner, an angry mob descended on the two deceased persons by using stones and fists between 15:00 and 16:00 hours on Sunday, alleging that the dual had poisoned Francis Chiluba, 45, a resident of Mpepo village in Kanchibiya.
“After the alleged poisoning, Francis Chiluba was later rushed to Michael Chilufya Sata Hospital in Mpika district. Unfortunately, yesterday around 02:00 hours he died,” said Njase. “The lynched victims are Frank Kasolo, 80, and Henry Bwalya, 70, both of Mpepo village in Kanchibiya district and their a bodies have since been deposited at Mpika District Hospital Mortuary”.
Meanwhile, the Police Commissioner has sounded a serious warning to those fond of taking the law into their own hands, saying stiffer punishment will be taken against them.
“Police have since opened an inquiry into the matter and anyone found wanting after the investigations will be dealt with in accordance with the law,” he warned.
Njase said preliminary investigations on the murders, indicated that the two elderly persons were suspected to be wizards in the community prior to the incidence concerning the death of Chiluba.
