UPND plans another motion to impeach Lungu

By Staff Reporter

The opposition UPND says its resolve to move a fresh motion in parliament to have President Edgar Lungu impeached is more alive this year than ever before.

Senior advisor to UPND president Hakainde Hichilema, Douglas Syakalima said his party had noted that President Lungu was allegedly breaching the Constitution.

Syakalima said the UPND’s impeachment option was still active and that the party had not relented at achieving this goal.

He revealed that his party was currently putting a few things together to push its agenda to have President Lungu impeached.

Syakalima, who is also Chirundu Member of Parliament, stated that his party had realized that President Lungu was a stubborn politician.

He said that the UPND did not think the Zambian people deserved a President who can refer to the brutalization of citizens by the Zambia Police as maintaining law and order.

Syakalima said his party had enough grounds for impeachment to have President Lungu prematurely removed from office.

He however said President Lungu should be part of the National Dialogue process.
