Shang’ombo District Council Secretary Kamwata Pongo says progress has been made on the construction of a 16 bed mothers shelter building at Shang’ombo District Hospital.
Speaking during a site visit at the mother’s shelter, Pongo disclosed that the contractor is expected to complete this month.
“The mother’s shelter which is expected to have 16 beds for waiting mothers and discharged mothers is being constructed under the council equalization fund,” he said.
Pongo expressed happiness with the workmanship by the contractor, Haz-Maz Construction Company so far since they started work two months ago.
Pongo said the mothers shelter would shelve accommodation challenges currently faced by expectant mothers.
Meanwhile, Haz-Maz builder Kamiji Chingwali said they were on course with the works.
