Change work culture, Mabumba tells teachers

By Staff Reporter

General Education minister David Mabumba has warned teachers to change their work culture if they are to remain relevant to the education sector.

Mabumba told teachers to uphold high levels of professionalism in their execution of duty and strategically analyse the performance of pupils, if illiteracy levels are to be reduced in the country.

ZANIS reports that Mabumba called for a prompt meeting with teachers at Sesheke Primary School on Thursday after receiving numerous complaints from the public over the alleged non-performance of some teachers at the learning facility.

He warned that non-performing teachers will be removed from government payroll to pave way for others who are willing to contribute to the country’s education system.

He further pointed out that education is a cornerstone and primary base on which sustainable development of the country was anchored.
