Police in Mongu have launched investigations into the murder of an unidentified man whose body was discovered last week in old Shoprite shopping area.

Western Province Police Commissioner Charles Lungu told Zambia News and Information Service (ZANIS) in Mongu that investigations were underway but that it was unfortunate that the dead man whose body was discovered by members of the public still remained unidentified.

Meanwhile, police in Mongu have launched investigations into the matter where a head-teacher, Siyambango Wamundila, 57 of Mombo Primary School in Limulunga was shot at by some unknown person.

He said the incident happened on December 15, 2018 while the man was at his house. He was taken to Lewanika General Hospital where he is nursing his gun-shot wounds.

And unconfirmed reports reaching ZANIS in Mongu indicate that some teachers at the same school have fled the learning institution to Limulunga town for fear of being attacked by some unknown assailants who are reportedly terrorizing the residents in the area.

But Limulunga District Commissioner Litambo Ndombo told NewsDayZambia.com in phone interview the that matter of teachers fleeing the school had already been resolved.

“I appeal to the local residents in Mombo to help with investigations and report would be suspects,” he said.  “The school administration has also employed two security officers to beef up security,” Ndombo said.

He stated that officers from the provincial education office and limulunga dsiitrict administrative have been visiting the school to check the welfare of the teacher.

Mombo area is known to be notorious for Karivina attacks.
